STANFORD UNIVERSITY


It is a Private Research University. Located in the Stanford, California. Officially its name is Leland Stanford Junior University. It was founded by Leland Stanford (US Senator from California) in 1885 in memory of his only child. His child died of Typhoid fever when he was 15 years old. Tuition in the University was free till 1920. The financial position of the University downs after the death of Leland Stanford in 1893. The main campus is located in Santa Clara Valley. Its president is John Hennessy.

Organization of University:

University is organized into three academic Schools (Which are both graduate and undergraduate) and four Professional Schools.

Trustees of University:

It has the corporate trust which is governed by 34 Boards of Trustees. These Boards of Trustees are privately appointed to done their job. They serve for a term of five years and could not serve for more than two constitutive terms. It was compulsory for them to meet five times in every year. New Trustee chooses by the Ballot System by the remaining Trustees.

University Ranking:

Stanford University in the world is 1st and its excellence rank in the world is 2nd.

Student Population:

Nearly 16,000 students are reading in the University in both undergraduate and post- graduate programs. Approximately 7000 are reading in undergraduate and 9000 in post graduate programs.

Alumni of University founded many companies which generate approximately $2.7 Trillion in annual revenue. Many living billionaires are Alumni of Stanford University. Eight Alumni of the University won Nobel prizes.
